The Meaning of One

Have you ever thought about the significance of "one"? Have you ever wondered that without "one" life will never be the same? Is it important even just to think about "one"? I will tell you the answer. Yes! "One" plays a very important role in the canvas of our lives. Such a massive meaning in the supposed-to-be small number. Let me give you the description of "one".

One song can spark the most boring moment. One ray of light can shine up the darkest space. One tree can start a huge forest. One smile can weave a new friendship. One star can guide a ship in the deadly night. One word can encourage weary people. One vote can change a nation. One idea can develop new ideology and character. And most of all, one life can make a huge difference.

Yesterday i watched the movie "How To Train Your Dragon". What could you imagine about that movie? A tiny and silly boy who wanted to change his fate? Or a determine boy who could use any methods to reach his goal?

This movie simply told us about a boy, named Hiccup, who wanted to be useful for his fellows and his village. Their village was always haunted by the ravage of hungry dragons. Catching "Night Fury", the most vicious dragon, was his dream.

He even could not hold his weapon properly. He messed up with everything. He was just a burden for his fellows. Yup! He was nothing until he took one crucial step and determined his doubtful heart. His lucky shot successfully trapped and injured "Night Fury".

The next day, he started his journey in search of injured "Night Fury". And there it was! He found it, injured and trapped by a string of rope. It barely could move its own body and wings. This was a rare chance for him to kill the dragon! It would not fight back. But what did he do? He simply could not stab the dragon. He had this kindness called compassion. He freed "Night Fury". To his shock, "Night Fury" could not fly appropriately due to the loss of half of its tail. The vicious and fearsome dragon had lost its flying ability.

Shortly, Hiccup began to weave a mutual friendship with the dragon and named it "Toothless". He fed the Toothless everyday and Toothless taught him about the strengths and weaknesses of the dragons in return. He made a fake tail for Toothless and learnt how to control it so it could fly again. He was the first and only viking who could communicate and ride the dragon. The entire village perceived that Hiccup had betrayed them by befriending with the dragon. People had a mind-set that all dragons are evil and they had to be killed. But actually they were not! The dragons stole the food because they feared their king, the most powerful and the largest dragon ever. Hiccup wanted to prove this gruesome fact! He wanted to prove that the dragons were blameless.

He tried to convince his father, the leader of viking, that the dragons were not evil. They were just simply manipulated by the king dragon. The dragons would not hurt anyone as long as people treated them nicely. They could live side by side with the dragons. Sadly, his father refused to believe his own son's word. To make it worse, he rejected and disposed of his own son. Of course his father had made the wrong option. He arrogantly lead the entire village to destroy the king dragon. But what happened? It was out of their wildest imagination. The dragon was so huge and powerful that they even could not hurt his coarse skin.

Luckily, Hiccup would never give up. I simply adore his determination, his perseverance and his loyalty to his "pet" dragon. He thought of any ways to free the village from the absolute danger. Flying with Toothless, he managed to kill the king dragon and saved the entire village! How cool it is!

One idea, one strong heart and one life can make such a huge impact for the world. He did not regret it although in the end he lost one of his leg. He sacrificed everything to be the one! Because of one tiny and silly boy, people realized their mistakes and misunderstanding towards the dragons. In the end, they lived side by side and wove a mutual relationship with the dragons.

Can you see it now? How meaningful one life is! ^^

I hope we do not waste our life for unspecific purposes. As the Bible said, the purpose of our life is to glorify Him thus we can enjoy the taste of truly happiness. How to glorify him? Yes! Through our life! Our life testimony will depict who we are. As a follower of Jesus, I always keep asking this question in my mind. Have i brought people nearer to Him through my daily life? Or am i pushing away their desire to know Jesus?

I believe that through my life, i can gently introduce Him to my surroundings. Although i am small and insignificant compared to this world, in His mighty hand i can be a useful tool to save the lost souls.  He will not leave your side although other people may accuse you for believing in Him. His loyalty and His covenant will be everlasting like the friendship of Hiccup and Toothless. It is even much bigger than that. He will hold your hands tightly till the end of the world as long as we have faith in Him. Let Him be the author of our lives. Let Him be the potter of our future. Then you will see the meaning of one in His hand.

Do not ever look down and neglect the meaning of "one". I simply want to become like Hiccup. Being the "one" who can make the difference for other's life. For Lord who is my shepherd and my refuge, i will trust in Him.

GOD BLESS YOU !! :)
